What Medication Can Increase Visuospatial Ability?

Question by ModernFreud: What medication can increase visuospatial ability?
Similar to the effects of Modafinil on processing speed and Ritalin on attention span, are there specific pharmaceuticals that have been documented to increase one’s visuospatial ability and speed, improving the “mind’s eye” so to speak? Testosterone has the capability to masculinize brain structures in order to favor visuospatial skills over verbal fluency, however is their any drug that solely affects the former?

Synthetic testosterone analogues such as nandrolone are likely to have a similar effect to testosterone though possible more pronounced due to the concentration that they can be administered in.

When you are talking about processing speed are you using a reaction test? I just wonder because the drugs you have mentioned are both CNS stimulants from the amphetamine family. If so you would expect all amphetamines to have this effect from khat to cocaine.

I suspect the best way to improve visuospatial ability is to combine a drug that released glutamate with a training exercise such as catching a ball. This would help prime the brain towards promoting development of the special awareness areas of the brain. Of course this would be most effective early in development but could be equally applied to a more mature brain as well.

games may prove a useful tool for this – if an individual is enjoying the game then they will be naturally stimulated and primed to develop the spacial areas of the brain particularly if the individual receives a reward for completing a special task such as social adulation from catching a ball.
