Do You Agree?
Question by D: Do you agree?
This is a quote from a book I am reading called dating for dummies, by Dr Joy Brown.
“Alcohol has been, is now, and will continue to be for the foreseeable futre the major drug of abuse in the country”…example (more pilgrims drowned in the canals after getting drunk and falling overboard on Saturday nights than were killed by Native Americans).”
Personally I do agree, very much so. In my option, it seems kind of stupid to look at someone that is stoned/high/ect and say oh wow he’s a bad person, but to look at someone who is drunk and say, wow he’s cool. Alcohol is seeming very easy to get as well, I’m not exactly sure why it IS legal (my guess would be the same as if I was buying dope from a dealer, they make money off the suffering of others) in a country that spends SO much money on substance abuse programs as well as processing DUI’s and such. Does anything really good come out of making alcohol illegal?
Please note, this is simply a matter of option. Although You may fire ze missiles if you like.
GEAS749, very nice reply, very well thought out and detailed response, but to answer your question. I have thought about for a long time, personally I still do not see a benefit to have alcohol legalized. I don’t see any positive benefit from it. Does drinking a glass of wine, truly make a person relaxed or does it actually give them a buzz, I believe there IS a difference, a very big one, while many do make reasonable choices towards drinking, I tend to think of those that don’t, I see it everywhere, I have friends in high school that go to school plastered because their parents know how to drink responsibly, but they don’t. I don’t believe that something that doesn’t have any medical benefit from society (I could be wrong on that, please tell me if I am, and provide a source), but has so many negative ones. And about the money, the way I see things is, we are actually putting a price on people potentially destroying their and others life’s.
An addition to what I stated in my past reply, I dont see why would An addition to what I stated in my past reply, I don’t see why would alcohol & tobacco be legal, but other things aren’t such as AMDA, Heroin, Cocaine, ect, people could use them also responsibly, but they also do have potential for addiction.
