Why Are Fatherless Children More Prone to Abuse?
Question by Gingy: Why are fatherless children more prone to abuse?
I’m writing a report for school and my topic is fatherless families. Every website I’ve seen, says that fatherless kids are bad and that they drink underage, do drugs, have premarital sex, and are abused. Why is this all about fatherless kids? I never had a dad growing up, and i’ve never done any of these things. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs, have sex with random people, and the only abuse I get is Emotional abuse from my BIOLOGICAL FATHER.
I feel so confused, can someone, anyone explain this to me?

I’ve got 3 friends who grew up in fatherless homes, two have step dads now.
But none of them drank under-age (might have had some but never binged drinked), never done drugs or premarital sex or were abused.

When they do studies on statistics, they tend to make the inconsiderate mistake of lumping people into categories. It’s stereotyping and it’s wrong. No, not ALL single parent families are broken and headed for destruction. In fact, there are some single parent families that are better off than some two parent families. Don’t let “facts and numbers” discourage you. You know the truth.
