Letter: Mental illness is a disease
This is very stigmatizing wording and prevents people from seeking help. Referring to someone as a drug addict, alcoholic and or mentally ill is hurtful. These are diseases. We would not refer to someone who has cancer as “clients who are cancerous.”.
