Simón Bolívar (1783 – 1830)
The country of Bolivia is named after Simon Bolivar. Though he was not born in Bolivia, but born in Venezuela, he was Bolivia’s main political leader.
He was one of Bolivia’s founding-fathers and served as Bolivia’s president from August 12, 1825 – December 29, 1825. He also played an important role in helping other South American countries gain independence from Spain and served as president in other countries of South America.
Simón Patiño (1862 – 1947)
Nicknamed “The Andean Rockefeller”, he was one of the world’s richest man in the early 1900’s.
Born as poor mestizo in a small town near Cochabamba, Bolivia, Simon Patino developed mines in Bolivia and built most of his fortune from the tin industry.
James Escalante (December 31, 1930 ? March 30, 2010)
Is a Bolivian-born American educator who earned renown and distinction for his work at Garfield High School, in Los Angeles, California in teaching students calculus from 1974 to 1991.
Jaime Escalante’s teaching was an inspiration for the 1988 movie Stand and Deliver. The film is a dramatization based on the true story of Jaime Escalante dedication as high school mathematics teacher. Edward James Olmos portrayed Escalante in the film and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role.

Azul Azul is a Bolivian pop-rock-dance group from the city of Santa Cruz. They were formed in the early 1990s.
Azul azul has many songs in Spanish that have become hits all over South America. Some of there hit songs include: “Apretaito”, “La Bomba” and “Dame Chocolate Y Te Doy BomBon”. See Video Below:

Ernesto Cavour
Ernesto Cavour is a Bolivian musician, known for being the inventor of various instruments that have enriched the folklore of the country. He is also the founder of the group ?Los Jairas?.
Among his most important inventions are the star charango, a guitar with two necks and an improved version of the zampoña. In La Paz you can visit the museum of musical instruments that he has created. Exhibited there are more than 2000 instruments from his own personal collection.
Los Kjarkas
Los Kjarkas is a Bolivian band from a small town near Cochabamba, Bolivia. There style of music is Andean folk with a pop flare to it.
Their most popular song, is “Llorando se Fue”.

Katherine David Céspedes
Katherine David Céspedes, born on October 22, 1988 in the small town of San Ignacio de Velasco in the Santa Cruz Department of Bolivia.
She won the 2007 Miss Bolivia pageant. She also represented her country in the Miss Universe 2008 pageants.
Sandra Hernandez Saavedra
Sandra Hernandez Saavedra, born 1985 in Cochabamba, Bolivia is a Bolivian model, who represented Bolivia in Miss World 2007.
Jackelin Arias
Jackelin Arias, born 1990 in Trinidad, Bolivia is a Bolivian model, who represented her country at the Miss World 2008 pageant.

Roberto Suárez Goméz (1932 ? July 20, 2000)
Roberto Suárez Goméz, nicknamed “king of cocaine” was a Bolivian drug trafficker who was the most powerful drug lord in Bolivian history, serving as an inspiration for the American movie “Scarface.”
At the height of his cocaine dealing, he supposedly supplied 1/3 of the cocaine that reached the USA and Europe.
He gained notoriety in 1983 when he sent a letter to Ronald Reagan, offering to pay Bolivia’s foreign debt of $ 3 billion in exchange for the release of his son who was arrested in cocaine trafficking.In 1988 he was sentenced to 15 years in the San Pedro prison for drug crimes but he was released in 1996. Four years later he died of a heart attack.
