well i suggest ur introduction addresses the question directly. Make sure u talk about everything in 3rd person so not to confuse u heres an example of my essay question and intro (i got a very high score on)
“Given our understanding of organised crime and the workings of illicit drug markets, what would an economist identify as the pros and cons of legalising heroin and cocaine in the UK?
Drug trafficking has been challenging many countries around the world globally; this is particularly true for western countries where there seems to be a prevalent increase in the consumption of illegal drugs in recent times. Recently many politicians in the UK have been arguing for the legalization of drugs, after the success of countries abroad had such as Portugal. In order to argue whether drugs should be made permissible, it is first vital to grasp an understanding of what organised crime is and why are drugs an important issue/threat in the UK. The main part of this essay will analyse any economic benefits it could lead to, if drugs became lawful. To have a balanced and unbiased view, any detriments through illicit drug markets would also be investigated. Finally, all the pros and cons would be evaluated with a verdict on decriminalising heroin and cocaine within the UK. ”
And then carry out all those things u have said u will do in ur question. at the end when u do not need to make any new points then ALWAYS summarize ur essay. Say something like “To conclude……..” Do not put any new points in conclusion.
I would time myself if i were u. If there re 4 essay questions for 3 hours then you need to spend 45 min per question (5 minute at the start of exam to read ALL questions in the paper and then start, your brain would automatically get the right points for u when it comes to answering next questions so u dont need as much time thinking). At the end of each question go to next and then at the end read all ur answers.
If u have a non essay exam where marks are smaller for each question then i suggest making lots of notes in colour pens and then revise by seeing how quickly u can list everything. Get ur friends or family to test u. I always found it easier to do non essay questions as it was only a matter of minutes for me not hours, because i spent 5 minutes reading all questions then done all the questions i knew and went back to the ones i needed to think about. This way im not wasting time but my brain is still thinking of those questions
