What Is the Deal With These Interview Evaluation Questions?

I had to take an “evaluation” on a computer before a company would consider me as a candidate. It asked me a bunch of random questions… some 4 times over, just stated in a different fashion. It asked me things like “have you ever known someone who tried cocaine” – and I am thinking “yes-hasn’t everyone met at least one coke head by age 32?” – so a said yes on my answer. Then it asks “Did you ever lie to your parents as a child” – and I am thinking “what the heck – all kids fib to their parents at some point, some more than others” – so I said yes I lied to my parents… there were others too – but I just felt weird after wards. Then it asks if I ever stole from an employer and I am thinking “What sort of idiot would put yes on here, obviously if they stole something they would have no problem fibbing?” I never had to do something that creepy just to get an interview. So anyone know what the deal is? Was it bad that I said I lied to my parents and knew a coke-head once?

It was an honesty measuring examination. Chief thing they;’re looking for is consistency.
