Why Am I Addicted to Revenge?

Question by Kaleb13: Why am I addicted to revenge?
I can’t control it. It fills my blood and boils my brain.

Nearly every time I feel I have been wronged, no matter how minor the situation is, I feel I need to get even somehow. This has caused me to commit acts of violence and verbal abuse out of pure impulse without any pre-meditated plan. Normally if I get revenge of something that has happened long in the past, it wasn’t necessarily a plot, but passive aggressiveness past its boiling point that caused me to act out impulsively. Any kind of plans I ever made for violent and torturous revenge were never carried out in real life when I came to my senses.

I’m still upset because it isn’t healthy to be obsessed and focusing on how to get people back all the time though. A lot of times if someone does something to me, and I let them get away with it, I feel as if I just weakly let them beat me and let them feel as if they are on a pedestal over me. Other times it makes me feel as if I let them control me if I don’t get them back for what they did.

This is kind of even more serious as of now, because as I type this, I’m giving consideration to skip a relatives funeral just to get even with people who are really wanting me to be there. I have thought about it all night, and it is starting to feel as if it is the perfect revenge and would hurt them and even the score. At the same time, I don’t want to hurt others who are innocent.

I’m constantly angry, upset, depressed, and wanting to get back others in ways that will cause emotional pain and upset in their life.

i think you need to see a therapist…

I dunno why you’re addicted to revenge but as you have already learned, it’s not healthy and it’ll get you in trouble if you can’t control it.

This one is easy , seek therapy .
Perhaps between you and a therapist you may get to the root of whatever your problem may be , but take it from me at the moment you’re a little not wired properly. Good luck!
